This Editorial Policy outlines how content is created, reviewed, and maintained on SkinsMetric.com. It explains our standards for accuracy, independence, and transparency.
Editorial Policy
Editorial Mission
SkinsMetric exists to document and explain the digital skin economy in Counter-Strike 2, Rust, and Dota 2. Our focus areas include:
- Skin design history and collection documentation
- Rarity systems, drop mechanics, and supply dynamics
- Float value behavior and pattern logic
- Marketplace safety analysis and platform transparency
Our mission is education and accuracy. We do not speculate on future prices, promote gambling platforms, or publish investment advice. Content is built to remain useful over time, not to capitalize on short-term trends.
Content Creation Standards
All content published on SkinsMetric is written or reviewed by humans with direct experience in the Valve skin economy. Automated tools may assist with data collection or verification, but they do not replace editorial judgment.
Every article aims to be:
- Factually accurate based on verifiable sources
- Neutral in tone and free from promotional bias
- Accessible to readers who are not experts in the topic
Content is created with long-term accuracy in mind. We prioritize depth over volume. If we cannot verify information to a reasonable standard, we do not publish it.
Research & Source Verification
Skin mechanics and technical details are verified using multiple sources before publication. This includes:
- In-game inspection using Steam’s native tools and third-party float checkers
- Historical marketplace data from platforms like CSGOFloat, Buff163, and Steam Community Market
- Official Valve documentation, patch notes, and publicly available drop tables
- Community-maintained databases for pattern indexes and wear tier distributions
Rarity classifications are based on documented supply data, not speculation. Visual references such as screenshots or skin comparisons are taken directly from verified sources or captured in-game. We do not use promotional renders or manipulated imagery.
When covering marketplace safety, assessments are based on observable behavior: withdrawal patterns, dispute resolution, user reports, and operational transparency. These evaluations are not influenced by affiliate relationships.
Fact-Checking & Review Process
Every article undergoes editorial review before publication. This process includes:
- Verifying technical claims against primary sources
- Cross-checking float ranges, pattern behaviors, and rarity data
- Ensuring consistency with previously published content
- Reviewing visual assets for authenticity
Technical guides—such as explanations of float mechanics or pattern systems—receive additional verification.
When major game updates occur, older content is flagged for re-evaluation. Mechanics change. Rarity distributions shift. We update or archive outdated material accordingly.
If an error is identified after publication, we correct it. Corrections are made transparently, not buried in silent edits. Accuracy is more important than avoiding mistakes.
Editorial Independence
SkinsMetric operates with full editorial independence. We are not owned by a marketplace, gambling operator, or affiliate network.
Advertising revenue, affiliate partnerships, and sponsored placements do not influence:
- Educational content or technical explanations
- Safety assessments of platforms or marketplaces
- Rankings, ratings, or editorial recommendations
No third party can pay to alter factual content, suppress negative findings, or change a safety classification. If we label a platform as risky, that assessment is based on documented evidence and cannot be negotiated.
Editorial decisions are made in the interest of accuracy and user safety, not revenue optimization.
Sponsored & Affiliate Content Policy
SkinsMetric may generate revenue through display advertising and affiliate links. When affiliate links are used, they are included transparently and do not alter the substance of the content.
Sponsored content, if published, is clearly labeled as such. Sponsorships are limited to placements that do not compromise editorial integrity.
We do not publish sponsored reviews, paid rankings, or promotional content disguised as education.
Reader trust is prioritized over monetization. If a revenue opportunity conflicts with editorial standards, we decline it.
Content Updates & Corrections
Content is updated periodically to reflect:
- Game patches that change mechanics, drop rates, or item behavior
- Policy changes by marketplaces or third-party platforms
- New research or technical findings that improve accuracy
Updates are made to maintain relevance, not to rewrite history. When significant changes are made to published content, we note the update date.
Readers are encouraged to report inaccuracies. If you identify an error, outdated information, or a factual dispute, contact us. We take corrections seriously and address them promptly.
Community & Feedback
SkinsMetric benefits from feedback provided by experienced traders, collectors, and community researchers. Constructive input helps us identify gaps, correct errors, and improve content quality.
We welcome:
- Corrections to technical inaccuracies
- Suggestions for topics or guides that would benefit the community
- Expert insights that improve the depth of existing content
